When you visit our website, your request is routed through Cloudflare's global content delivery network. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata to deliver the website securely and efficiently. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We use Plausible Analytics, an open-source web analytics tool hosted on our own infrastructure (self-hosted at plausible.genai-wednesday.de). Its script sets no cookies and writes nothing to your device. It checks a setting in your browser, which lets you exclude your own visits, and whether the browser is automated. Neither is sent to the analytics server.
When you open a page, the script sends the address of that page and the page or site you came from to our analytics server, together with the technical data your browser sends with every request (browser, operating system, device type, IP address). When you leave the page or switch to another tab or window, it also sends how far you scrolled and how long the page was visible and in focus. We also track the following events, each with the page it happened on:
The tool derives your approximate location from the IP address and does not keep the IP address in its own records. From your IP address, your browser data and this website's domain, plus a value that is replaced every 24 hours, it forms an identifier. While that value lasts, and as long as those inputs stay the same, the tool therefore recognizes the same browser and counts it as one visitor. Once the value is replaced, it can no longer recognize that browser; only a visit that is still going at that moment (one with activity in about the last 30 minutes) continues as the same visit. Nor can the tool recognize that browser on another website. The individual events (for example each page view, and the scroll depth and engaged time sent when you leave a page) and the session records are stored with this identifier, the page address, the referrer, any link address, file name, title or text sent with the event, the location and the device data on our own servers within the EU, and are shown as aggregated counts. The individual events and session records are deleted from the analytics server after 24 months. Encrypted backup copies of this data are stored at Cloudflare and kept for about 30 days, so a deleted record can remain in a backup for about 30 days longer. A backup copy also holds the earlier values that were replaced every 24 hours: those of the last days or weeks, and possibly older ones. Requests to the analytics server pass through Cloudflare, which also serves this website (see section 3). The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding website usage to improve our service). You can prevent the measurement by blocking the analytics script in your browser.
Our home page, our event pages and our Videos page show previews of YouTube videos (YouTube is operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). The video itself loads only when you click it. Until then the page shows a preview image, which your browser loads from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com) when the page opens or as the image comes into view. The Videos page also asks YouTube's data interface (www.googleapis.com) for the view counts when it opens. For these requests Google receives your IP address and the technical data your browser sends with every request, without a click from you.
When you click a video on the home page or on an event page, the embedded player is created from www.youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and starts playing. In this mode, according to YouTube, your views of the embedded video do not influence your browsing experience on YouTube. YouTube still receives your IP address and the technical data your browser sends, and may store information on your device and collect data about your usage behavior. If you click a video on the Videos page or a link to our YouTube channel, YouTube opens in a new tab and YouTube's own privacy policy applies from there. The use of YouTube is in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offerings. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

This website uses the "Inter" typeface, self-hosted and served directly from our own server. Font files are not loaded from Google Fonts or any other third-party service.
